Nice to meet you, I'm Nicola
I'm here to listen and walk alongside you through grief, at whatever pace feels right. You'll find warmth, understanding, and genuine care in every conversation.

I am a person-centred counsellor with a background in care and empathy.
My professional journey began in primary education, where I spent 20 years working closely with children and families. I later moved into a role with Barnardo’s, specialising in social and emotional support for young people. I now lead a charity dedicated to bereavement support across Scotland.
Throughout my career, one constant has remained: a deep belief in the importance of kindness. Empathy and compassion guide every interaction, whether I am supporting a child with overwhelming emotions or walking alongside someone experiencing profound loss.
I live with my husband, our two children, and our dog. My own life experiences have included significant challenges, and it is through navigating these that I found my calling to support others. I believe that being truly heard during difficult times can make a meaningful difference in how we cope and move forward.
My aim is to walk alongside you as you make sense of your past, understand your present, and explore your hopes for the future.
How I came to this work
My early career in teaching gave me a deep understanding of how young people experience and process the world around them. It was during this time that I began to see the transformative impact of feeling genuinely heard and understood.
For over eleven years, I have worked in bereavement support—both directly with individuals and through leading a charity supporting families across Scotland. This has been some of the most meaningful work of my life. It is a privilege to accompany people through grief, not to fix or rush it, but to honour it. Grief takes time, and each person’s experience is unique.
Everything I have learned has led me to this work: offering a calm, supportive space where people can begin to process their experiences at their own pace.
What matters to me
I value time spent in nature, being with animals, creative expression, and moments shared with loved ones. I am continually inspired by the kindness I see in others.
In my practice, I am committed to creating a warm, non-judgemental environment where you feel safe to be yourself. It is a privilege to witness people’s stories—their vulnerability, their strength, and their capacity to heal.
While life inevitably brings challenges, I believe we can navigate them more gently when we are supported with compassion and care.

How I work with you
Every experience of grief is unique. I offer a calm, supportive space where you can be yourself, without pressure or expectation, and move at a pace that feels right for you.
A space without judgment
You will be met with warmth, respect, and understanding. There is no need to filter your thoughts or feelings - everything you bring is welcome.
Sessions that are shaped by you
Our sessions are guided by what feels most important to you. We can sit with whatever is present, gently exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences together.
Grounded in real experience
My work is shaped by years of supporting others through loss. I believe that being listened to with care and compassion can make a meaningful difference in how we carry grief.
When you're ready to begin...
There's no rush, no pressure. Just a quiet space waiting for you whenever you need it.
